First-install notes

  • Install MyST Parser with Conda Run `conda install -c conda-forge myst-parser` in the Python environment you use for your docs. Conda (a tool for managing Python packages and their dependencies) installs MyST in one place, so Sphinx (the documentation builder) can find it and build your site without missing pieces. source
  • Or install it with pip If you do not use Conda, activate the matching Python environment and run `pip install myst-parser`. pip is Python's package installer, and putting MyST in the same environment as your docs avoids build failures from missing packages. source
  • Add Mermaid only if needed If your docs use Mermaid diagrams, run `pip install sphinxcontrib-mermaid` in the same environment. Without it, Mermaid diagram blocks may not appear when the docs are built. source

Common questions

What VPN transport does the Mysterium node currently use?

The node currently supports WireGuard as its underlying VPN transport.

What Docker flags are required to run the node?

Run the container with the NET_ADMIN capability added and host networking enabled. The service command must also include the agreed terms and conditions flag.

How can I check node status and logs after installation?

On Linux installs, use systemctl status mysterium-node.service and journalctl -u mysterium-node.service. For Docker, use docker logs -f myst.

How does automatic updating work for new Debian package installs?

A timer checks the stable Mysterium Launchpad PPA every 6 to 12 hours and installs a newer authenticated package when available. It rejects downgrades, held packages, unexpected repositories, architectures, package paths, and artifact hashes.

Can I install a development build instead of the latest stable release?

Use SNAPSHOT=true with the installation script to install the latest snapshot development build. Snapshot builds are development builds and should be used at your own risk.
