Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Install Python 3 and Git first Before running Headphones from source, make sure Git and Python 3 are installed, then clone the app and run Headphones.py. If those tools are missing, the install steps and startup will fail. source
  • Let other devices reach the web UI If you want to open Headphones from another computer or phone, change the network address in config.ini from localhost to 0.0.0.0. Without that, only the machine running Headphones can see it. source
  • Set up user, folders, and permissions For Linux service installs, create the service user and set ownership on the Headphones folder and config file before starting it. Wrong permissions can stop the service from starting or from saving your settings. source
