Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Add your SSH public key and expose the port When starting the container, set JENKINS_AGENT_SSH_PUBKEY (the public key Jenkins uses to log in) and map a host port to the container's SSH port 22, for example 2200:22. Without this, Jenkins cannot connect to this build agent. source
  • Add known hosts for Git servers If your jobs clone from GitHub or Bitbucket over SSH, set JENKINS_AGENT_SSH_KNOWNHOST_0 and JENKINS_AGENT_SSH_KNOWNHOST_1 to those hosts' SSH keys. Without them, the first connection can pause asking if you trust the server, which can make jobs fail. source

Common questions

How do I expose a Docker SSH build agent so Jenkins can connect?

Set JENKINS_AGENT_SSH_PUBKEY to the public key Jenkins uses and map a host port to the container's port 22, for example 2200:22. Without this, Jenkins cannot connect to the build agent.

What SSH setting prevents Jenkins jobs from failing when cloning from Git hosts?

Set JENKINS_AGENT_SSH_KNOWNHOST_0 and JENKINS_AGENT_SSH_KNOWNHOST_1 to the Git servers' SSH known hosts. This prevents the first connection from pausing on a host trust prompt, which can make jobs fail.

Where can I discuss general Jenkins usage problems?

The Jenkins community forum has a Using Jenkins category for discussing how to use Jenkins and its plugins.
