UniFi-Poller is a monitoring tool that collects metrics from UniFi Controller, network devices, and connected clients, then exports them to InfluxDB or Prometheus for visualization in Grafana. It includes pre-built Grafana dashboards and is designed for self-hosted homelab users who want detailed network telemetry without additional overhead.

Based on 3 of 4 factors.

How is this calculated?

A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Run the install script Copy and run the install command shown in the docs on your UniFi device. This sets up Tailscale UniFi and TUN mode; without it, the remote-network features are not installed. source
  • Confirm TUN mode is active After setup, check that the tailscale0 virtual network card exists by running ip link show tailscale0. If it is missing, TUN mode is not active and shared routes or remote access may not work. source
  • Share your home network subnets If you want devices on your home LAN to be reachable from Tailscale, run tailscale up with --advertise-routes set to your local subnet addresses. Without this, remote devices may only reach the UniFi box, not the rest of your network. source

Common questions

What installation order works well for the telemetry stack?

Install InfluxDB before UniFi-Poller, confirm data is being saved, then install Grafana.

What do I need to enable to collect DPI data?

Enable DPI collection in the poller and in the UniFi controller configuration.

How often does UniFi-Poller collect data in Influx mode?

It polls the UniFi controller every 30 seconds for measurements and exports the data to an Influx database.

How does Prometheus mode work?

In Prometheus mode the poller opens a web port and accepts Prometheus polling. It converts UniFi Controller API data into Prometheus exports on the fly.

How are plugin settings configured?

Plugin config structs are automatically unmarshaled from a config file and/or environment variables, and imported plugins are initialized on startup.
