Redis Stack is a self-contained Redis server image that adds JSON document storage, full-text search, time series, and probabilistic data structures on top of the core key-value store. Because Redis 8 is consolidating these modules into standard Redis, new deployments may prefer the base Redis image.

Common questions

Should new self-hosted projects keep using redis-stack-server?

New users should use Redis instead of Redis Stack. Starting with Redis 8, Redis Stack and community offerings are being combined into a single Redis Open Source distribution that includes all Redis Stack modules.

What should self-hosters check if Redis Stack is slow after being idle?

If latency appears when Redis has been idle for some time, use Redis's latency troubleshooting guide. For rare crashes, developers can help if you provide debugging information.

Why won't a self-hosted GitHub Actions runner use the services keyword for Redis?

The services tag only works for ubuntu-latest GitHub-hosted runners. For a self-hosted runner, install Redis in the workflow steps so it is available locally.

Where can developers find recent redis-stack-server troubleshooting Q&A?

A Stack Overflow tag page for redis-stack-server lists recent developer questions. It can be used to find troubleshooting and usage Q&A for that package.
