Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Create the folders and start Dockge Make the /opt/stacks and /opt/dockge folders, download the compose.yaml file into /opt/dockge, then run `docker compose up -d` (or `docker-compose up -d` for older docker-compose or Podman) to start Dockge. The folders hold your app stack files and Dockge's own stack, so if you skip them or use the wrong folder, your stacks may not be saved or found. source
  • Set up your first account When you first open Dockge, create the initial username and password; the password must contain letters and numbers and be at least 6 characters. If it is too weak, setup fails, and Dockge cannot be set up again without deleting its database. source
  • Keep the stack and Dockge folders Keep the /opt/stacks and /opt/dockge folders safe, because /opt/stacks stores your app stack files and /opt/dockge stores Dockge's own stack. Deleting them can make Dockge lose your saved stack definitions or its own starting files. source

Common questions

Which folders should I create and protect when running Dockge?

Create /opt/stacks for your app stack files and /opt/dockge for Dockge's own compose file. Keep both folders safe, because deleting them can make Dockge lose saved stack definitions or its own starting files.

What happens if the first Dockge account password is too weak?

The initial password must contain letters and numbers and be at least 6 characters. If setup fails because it is too weak, Dockge cannot be set up again without deleting its database.

Can I migrate existing Portainer stacks to Dockge?

Community discussions describe migrating from Portainer to Dockge by importing existing containers and compose files so they become managed by Dockge.

Can Dockge turn docker run commands into compose files?

Yes, Dockge can convert run commands to compose files as part of its compose-stack management features.
