Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Resources & Compatibility
Requirements not published yet.
First-install notes
- Fill in .env before starting Before starting Borg UI, edit the .env file to set PORT (the browser port), PUID/PGID (the user and group IDs the container runs as), LOCAL_STORAGE_PATH (where Borg keeps files), and TZ. If these are missing or wrong, the web page may not load or Borg may fail to save settings and backups with permission errors. source
- Start the app with Docker Compose Once your settings look right, run docker compose up -d to start Borg UI in the background. Without this command, the app is not running and you cannot open the web interface. source
- Set up remote backups with SSH If you plan to back up to another computer, add its host, port, username, and default path, then install Borg UI's public SSH key on that remote machine. If the key is missing or the SSH file permissions are wrong, Borg UI cannot connect to the backup location. source
- Quick start The official docs provide a one-command Docker quick start: expose port 8081, set REDIS_HOST=disabled, and mount persistent data and cache volumes. source

Common questions
What should I set in the .env file before first starting Borg UI?
Set PORT, PUID/PGID, LOCAL_STORAGE_PATH, and TZ in the .env file before starting. If these are missing or wrong, the web page may not load or Borg may fail to save settings and backups with permission errors.
How do I configure a remote SSH backup target?
Add the remote host, port, username, and default path in Borg UI, then install Borg UI's public SSH key on the remote machine. If the key is missing or SSH file permissions are wrong, Borg UI cannot connect to the backup location.
Which group ID should I use for permissions on source directories?
Use the GID of the group that owns or can read the source directory, not a Borg UI web-login user. Prefer granting access only to the mounted data Borg UI needs rather than running the container as root.
