First-install notes
- Save settings and license in a /data volume Add -v data:/data to keep your license, settings, and logs outside the container, and mount your media folder as /volume1. If you skip the /data volume, your saved setup and license can disappear when the container is deleted or rebuilt. source
- Set PUID/PGID for your media files Set PUID and PGID (the user and group IDs the container runs as) to match the owner of your media folder, often 1000. Wrong values can make renamed files unreadable or cause FileBot to fail when accessing your files. source
- WebDAV: set a password and port 8080 If you use the WebDAV image, set USERNAME and PASSWORD, then publish port 8080 on your machine. The password keeps strangers from seeing your files, and the port lets other devices reach the shared folder. source

Common questions
What volume should I mount to keep FileBot settings and my license safe?
Mount a /data volume, such as -v data:/data, to keep the license, settings, and logs outside the container. If you skip the /data volume, your saved setup and license can disappear when the container is deleted or rebuilt.
How should I set PUID and PGID when running FileBot with a media folder?
Set PUID and PGID to match the owner of your media folder, often 1000. Wrong values can make renamed files unreadable or cause FileBot to fail when accessing your files.
What credentials and port are required for the FileBot WebDAV image?
Set USERNAME and PASSWORD, then publish port 8080 on your machine. The password keeps strangers from seeing your files, and the port lets other devices reach the shared folder.
Can FileBot be run unattended without using the GUI?
FileBot offers a simple CLI for common use cases and a built-in scripting engine for more complex tasks. The amc script can extract archives, identify and organize media, fetch artwork and metadata, and update Plex.
How do I open the FileBot interface after deploying the container?
Access the full graphical interface directly from any modern web browser or connect with any VNC client. No downloads, installs, or setup are required on the client side.
Is FileBot free to use?
FileBot changed from a free model to a paid model.
