First-install notes

  • Install for your coding tool first Run npx (a Node.js command that runs a package without installing it permanently) @workweave/router and choose Claude Code, Codex, or opencode. This sets up the chosen tool to send its AI requests through the router. source
  • Set your WEAVE_ROUTER_KEY Save the rk_... key as WEAVE_ROUTER_KEY in your shell startup file, a dotenv file, or a password manager. Your tool needs this key to prove it is allowed to use the router, and a missing or wrong key will make requests fail. source
  • Self-hosting needs a provider key If you are running your own router, put your OpenRouter API key into .env.local before running make full-setup. That starts Postgres (the database) and the router on port 8080 and creates a router key; without it, clients have no working backend to route through. source
