Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Start SimpleApp in Docker on port 8080 Run the official simpleapp image in Docker (the tool that runs apps in containers), making sure port 8080 (the browser-facing port) is free; if that port is already in use, the app will not be reachable in your browser. source
  • Open SQL Server in Docker for the database Start a SQL Server container with a strong SA (built-in admin login) password and expose port 1433; SQL Server is the database engine, and if the app cannot reach it, data may not save correctly. source
  • Create the simpleapp database and login Run the provided SQL in SQL Server to create the simpleapp database and login; this gives the app a safe place to store its data and a way to sign in, so missing steps can cause startup or connection failures. source

Common questions

Why can't I reach the Causeway SimpleApp Docker image in a browser?

Make sure the browser-facing port 8080 is free on the host. If port 8080 is already in use, the app will not be reachable in your browser.

How should I structure new functional areas in a Causeway SimpleApp-based app?

Put each new area of functionality in its own module, such as by copying the simpleapp-jpa-module-simple module. Modules can depend on each other, with Maven enforcing unidirectional dependencies.

Where are the sample unit and integration tests in Causeway SimpleApp?

They are included in their own Maven modules: simpleapp-jpa-module-simple-tests and simpleapp-jpa-webapp-tests.
