How is this calculated?

A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Install the RSS library If the app uses Bundler (a tool that installs a project's library list), run bundle after adding the rss gem (a packaged Ruby library) to the Gemfile; otherwise run gem install rss. This installs the RSS library the app needs, and without it feed handling can fail. source
  • Whitelisting Before first run, copy the repository's whitelist.default.txt to the appdata folder and rename it whitelist.txt. source

Common questions

Does RSS-Bridge refresh feeds automatically on a schedule?

It checks the cache timeout on every request and reloads new content only after the timeout has elapsed. It only updates when you actively request the feed, such as by refreshing a browser or using a feed reader.

Can RSS-Bridge output Atom as well as RSS?

Yes, it can generate RSS and Atom feeds for websites that do not provide them.

Can RSS-Bridge be run without a web server?

Yes, it can be used on webservers or as a stand-alone application in CLI mode.

Do I have to self-host RSS-Bridge to use it?

No, you can host your own instance or use a public instance.

Will images from self-hosted RSS-Bridge feeds always appear in a reader?

Not always; one self-hoster reported that Facebook and Reddit Atom feeds in the Feeder app showed only text, with images not displayed.
