Apache Beam Python 2.7 SDK is the Python 2.7 build of the Apache Beam SDK, a unified model for defining both batch and streaming data-parallel processing pipelines. It provides the language-specific classes and runners developers use to build pipelines that execute on backends such as Apache Flink, Apache Spark, and Google Cloud Dataflow, and is useful for maintaining legacy Python 2 pipelines.

First-install notes

  • Install the Beam CLI and add your token Install the Beam command-line tool with uv tool install beam-client, then save your Beam access token with beam configure default --token YOUR_TOKEN. The token is a personal access code; without it, Beam will not recognize you and later commands will fail. source
  • Get the vLLM chat example ready Clone the Beam examples repository, enter the vllm folder, install the OpenAI Python package with pip install openai, then run python chat.py. The chat script needs that package to send requests, so it will error without it. source
  • Expose the port your app listens on When creating a Pod (a short-lived container), add the port your app uses to the ports list, for example 8000 for an HTTP server. That tells Beam which connection to expose through the returned URL; if you forget it, the app can start but you may not be able to open it in a browser. source
