  • Tools & Utilities
Spring Cloud Data Flow is a microservices-based toolkit for building streaming and batch data processing pipelines in Cloud Foundry and Kubernetes, where pipelines are composed of Spring Boot apps built on the Spring Cloud Stream and Spring Cloud Task frameworks. As of April 2025, Broadcom no longer maintains it as an open-source project and offers commercial support options instead.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Common questions

How can I check the versions of the major dependencies in my Spring Cloud Data Flow server?

The About REST API result includes a display name and version for each major dependency, plus a URL when one is specified.

What compatibility checks should I do before running Spring Cloud Data Flow on Kubernetes?

Check the compatibility matrix for deployer and server compatibility with the Kubernetes release version. The Kubernetes implementation uses the Spring Cloud Deployer Kubernetes library.

Can a single Spring Cloud Data Flow installation deploy streams and tasks across more than one target?

Yes. One installation can support orchestrating deployment of streams and tasks to Local, Cloud Foundry, and Kubernetes.

Where can I find community Q&A for troubleshooting Spring Cloud Data Flow usage?

A Stack Overflow tag for spring-cloud-dataflow collects community questions and answers on usage and troubleshooting.
