First-install notes

  • Save a browser-friendly report Run GoAccess with your access log (the file recording web requests) and -o report.html, or put the file in your web server's folder where you want it served. This creates a shareable HTML report; without a valid, writable output location you may not get a report to open. source
  • Make live HTML updates reachable For real-time HTML, start GoAccess with --real-time-html and make sure the report can reach its --ws-url, --port, and --addr settings (the live connection endpoint). If the browser cannot reach that port/address, the HTML page will not update. source
  • Set the right timezone for log dates If your log times use a particular timezone or date format, pass settings like --tz and --datetime-format so GoAccess interprets them correctly. Otherwise activity can be counted under the wrong day or time. source
