First-install notes

  • Use a persistent database, not SQLite Set DATABASE_URL (the address the app uses to find its database) to point to PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MariaDB, and expose port 5100 so you can open the web app in a browser. SQLite stores data inside the container and will be lost on restart, so shared links and settings disappear. source
  • Start the app with Docker Compose After your config file is ready, run docker compose up -d to start PasswordPusher in the background. This keeps the app running without needing the terminal open. source
  • Match the database URL to your database Use a database URL with the correct prefix (the word before //): postgres:// for PostgreSQL or mysql2:// for MySQL. If the prefix is wrong, PasswordPusher cannot connect to its database and the site will not load. source
