First-install notes

  • Set domain, email, and accept HTTPS terms In snikket.conf, set SNIKKET_DOMAIN (your web address), SNIKKET_ADMIN_EMAIL (the admin contact), and change SNIKKET_LETSENCRYPT_TOS_AGREE from N to Y. If you skip this, init.sh will refuse to finish and Snikket won't get the free HTTPS certificate. source
  • Run init.sh before starting the service Run ./scripts/init.sh from the Snikket folder before ./scripts/start.sh. Start.sh checks for docker-compose.yml (the file that lists the container services) and exits with a hint if init.sh hasn't created it. source
  • Create your first admin account Run ./scripts/new-invite.sh --admin --group default after the service is up, then open the printed invite link and choose a username and password. This creates your first admin account, for example admin@yourdomain, which you need to manage Snikket. source
