Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Get Docker Desktop running first If you're on Windows, install Docker Desktop before running the Wyze bridge; otherwise the app has no container (an isolated sandbox for it to run in) to start. Use the per-user install if you don't have admin rights, or the all-users install from an admin prompt for all accounts. source
  • Wyze API Key You must supply your own Wyze API Key and ID. Create one via Wyze's support portal before first configuration. source

Common questions

Do I need a Wyze API key to run docker-wyze-bridge?

Yes. As of May 2024, you must supply your own Wyze API Key and API ID.

Which ports are exposed in the basic Docker setup?

The quick-start command maps ports 8554, 8888, and 5050, with 5050 used for the web interface. The project warns against forwarding ports or enabling DMZ access unless you understand the risk.

How can I prevent old snapshot files from accumulating?

Set SNAPSHOT_KEEP when saving snapshots with a custom format to delete older snapshots. Examples are 180 for 3 minutes, 72h for 3 days, and 21d for 3 weeks.

Can a Wyze update cause stream sync problems?

Users have reported that a Wyze update caused major sync issues with Docker Bridge. The report involved RTSP firmware on V2 cameras.

Do some cameras stop getting video over time?

A user reports that at least one camera stops getting video and a restart of the Docker Wyze Bridge fixes it. They were unsure whether changing camera IPs or the bridge caused it.

What Windows prerequisite must be met before starting the bridge?

Install Docker Desktop first so the Wyze bridge has a container to start. Use the per-user install if you lack admin rights, or the all-users install from an admin prompt.
