First-install notes

  • Install the PHP MongoDB extension first Use the pie command (a helper for installing PHP extensions) to add the MongoDB extension, because PHP needs it to talk to MongoDB. If you skip this, the app will fail when it tries to connect to the database or save data. source
  • Add search support with Laravel Scout Run the two provided Laravel setup commands to install Scout and publish its configuration files (this copies editable settings into your project) if you plan to use search. Without that, search features can fail or return nothing even when MongoDB is connected. source
