First-install notes
- Use port 8080 to open Shiori Start the app with shiori serve and open the web page on port 8080, the network door used to reach Shiori. If that port is already busy, use shiori serve -p 8090 so the web page loads instead of failing. source
- Set the database address if you use one If you want Shiori to save bookmarks in PostgreSQL or MySQL, set SHIORI_DATABASE_URL to that database's connection address, including username, password, and database name. Without it, Shiori uses its default SQLite database, so your external database would not be used. source
- Start Shiori automatically If Shiori is installed as a Linux service, run systemctl enable --now shiori so it starts now and starts again after reboots. Without this, the bookmark site may be off after you restart your server, even though it is installed. source

Common questions
Which port does Shiori use for the web interface, and how do I change it?
The web interface is opened on port 8080 when started with shiori serve. If that port is already in use, start it with shiori serve -p 8090 or another free port.
How do I make Shiori start automatically on a Linux server?
If Shiori is installed as a Linux service, run systemctl enable --now shiori so it starts immediately and after reboots. Without this, it may not be available after the server restarts.
How do I make Shiori use PostgreSQL or MySQL instead of its default database?
Set SHIORI_DATABASE_URL to the connection address, including username, password, and database name. If it is not set, Shiori uses its default SQLite database.
Can I migrate existing bookmarks into Shiori?
Shiori can import bookmarks from Pocket and from Netscape Bookmark files. It can also export bookmarks to Netscape Bookmark files.
Does Shiori save offline copies of bookmarked pages?
Where possible, Shiori parses the readable content and creates an offline archive of the webpage by default.
