Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Set security and password settings first Before starting the Docker container, set PAPERMERGE__SECURITY__SECRET_KEY and PAPERMERGE__AUTH__PASSWORD. Without a strong secret key, the app’s secure data is less protected, and without the password you may not be able to sign in. source
  • Map port 8000 so you can open it Use -p 8000:80 when running the container so the web page is available at http://localhost:8000. If you don’t expose a port, the app may start but you won’t be able to reach it in a browser. source

Common questions

Can I keep using the linuxserver/papermerge Docker image for new setups?

No, the linuxserver/papermerge image is deprecated and will not be updated or supported. The last working tag is v2.0.1-ls60, and the page recommends using the official Papermerge image instead.

Which environment variables should I set before starting the Papermerge Docker container?

Set PAPERMERGE__SECURITY__SECRET_KEY and PAPERMERGE__AUTH__PASSWORD before first start. A strong secret key helps protect the app's secure data, and the password may be needed to sign in.

Can my scanner send scans straight into Papermerge?

Yes, you can configure your scanner to upload documents directly to Papermerge.
