How is this calculated?

A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Add API keys, keep .env private, set limits Before starting, put the required API key (a password-like code for a web service) - at least the Google Maps key, plus any optional AI keys - into the .env file (a text file that stores codes), keep that file private, and set a billing alert and usage quota on the Google key. Without the key the map won't load, and without the spending guard a misconfigured key can cost you money. source
  • Set up OpenSky login before launch Choose the OpenSky flight-data login mode you want, such as basic auth (a simple username/password style) or a credentials file (a saved account details file), and set the matching environment variable (a startup setting) before starting. If this is missing, the app may not be able to sign in and show flight data. source
  • Use the local port shown by the app Run the server command that says localhost (your own computer) and port 4173, then open your browser to localhost:4173. It is meant to run only on your computer, so you normally do not need to open an external firewall port (a rule that lets other devices connect). source

Common questions

Can Gods-Eye-View be started without API keys?

Yes, the setup guide says it can start without API keys. Optional live data feeds can be added.

Is setting tileJsonUrl alone enough to point vector tiles at a self-hosted mirror?

No, the issue says setting tileJsonUrl alone is silently ignored. It reports no working way to point vector tiles at a self-hosted mirror.

Is the self-hosted GitHub project the same product as the hosted GodsView AI service?

No, the comparison page says GodsView AI is a hosted live map. The MIT Cesium project on GitHub is software you install and operate.

Does the repo description mention seismograph data as a supported signal?

Yes, the repo description says seismographs are included along with flight transponders, ship beacons, orbital elements, and public cameras.
