Pantrix

Pantrix is a self-hosted kitchen planner.

  • Productivity
Pantrix is a self-hosted kitchen planner. Save recipes and the ingredients they use, keep track of what is in your refrigerator, freezer and pantry, and plan meals on a calendar. A recipe line can accept substitutes ("penne or elbow pasta"), and a planned meal can be a recipe, a single ingredient such as a packaged meal, or eating out. The shopping list writes itself: it always holds what your upcoming meals need plus anything below the minimum you set, less what you already have. Add your own items, check things off as you shop, and save one-off items as ingredients for next time. Add the stores you shop at and record which aisle each item is in at each one. Pick the store on a shopping list and it sorts into walking order. Each item can also carry the exact product you usually buy and a link to its page on the store's website. Store addresses can be looked up through OpenStreetMap.

How is this calculated?

A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Common questions

What data do I need to back up in Pantrix?

Back up the /data and /keys container directories together. /data holds the Pantrix database and /keys holds the keys that encrypt sign-in cookies.

How do I make Pantrix reachable from outside my network?

Put it behind a reverse proxy that handles HTTPS and set Behind a reverse proxy to true.

What port does the documented Docker deployment use?

The documented Docker command maps port 8080 and opens Pantrix on that port.

How do multiple accounts and shared kitchens work?

The first account on a fresh install is the admin, and each account has its own private kitchen. A kitchen owner can share a join code so other accounts can join and edit that kitchen, then remove members or change the code later.

Can I upgrade from a version without kitchens without losing data?

Yes. Upgrading from a version without kitchens keeps everything, and the existing data becomes the first account’s kitchen.
