nexdiary

nexdiary is a diary for the family on your own server.

  • Productivity
nexdiary is a diary for the family on your own server. Jot things down during the day without minding the spelling, and in the evening turn the notes into a page: by yourself, or with an AI that only orders and smooths and invents nothing. Every person sees only their own diary, and the operator manages the accounts without ever seeing what is written in them. Every day gets a cover picture (your own photo or one of 256 drawn illustrations), values from 1 to 10 for whatever you want to rate, a question of the day for when nothing comes to mind, a journal as a blog or a timeline with search, and statistics worked out on the server from your own days only. Single days can be shared with chosen people of the family, read-only, with a heart as the only reaction. Photos can come from your own Immich. Reminders arrive by Web Push, and the app installs to the home screen of a phone. Everything

How is this calculated?

A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Common questions

Can the self-host operator read individual diary entries?

No. The operator manages the accounts without ever seeing what is written in them.

Can the AI fill template sections that are not supported by my notes?

No. It fills only what your notes say about a heading; the rest stays empty, and an empty section is dropped when you save.

Are my original notes changed or lost when they become an evening page?

No. The notes are never changed or lost, and they stay beside the page.

Can other family members see my diary days by default?

Every person sees only their own diary. A single day can be shared with chosen people, who may read it and give a heart, nothing more.

Do statistics use another user’s diary data?

No. Statistics are worked out on the server from your own days only.

How does the phone version start?

On the phone the app starts on the quick note, with one field and the keyboard open and the notes of today above it.
