Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Resources & Compatibility

First-install notes

  • Install the Grida CLI first Install the Grida CLI with npm (the Node.js package manager), preferably inside your project rather than globally, so the grida command works; without it you can't initialize Grida. source
  • Run grida init in your project From your project folder, run grida init so Grida creates its config and connects to your framework. Without it, Grida won't be set up for the project, and it may ask for confirmation if it can't find your main project file. source
  • Keep the Grida settings files After setup, Grida creates or changes .grida, .env (the file for environment values), and grida.config.js, which hold project settings; back them up so losing or editing them incorrectly won't break Grida. source
  • Download Grida Desktop Download Grida Desktop for macOS, Windows, or Linux from the official downloads page; bring your own AI provider keys or use supported local text models with Ollama. source

Common questions

Can I use Grida with local AI models instead of external provider keys?

Yes, you can bring your own provider keys for AI or use supported local text models with Ollama.

Is the Grida AI Gateway available as a standalone service?

The standalone Grida AI Gateway service is coming soon. It is described as one API for creative models.

What are the installation requirements for Grida CLI?

Install it with Node.js 24 or later using npm. The launcher selects the native executable, so no Rust toolchain is required.

Will Grida CLI store my credentials on Windows?

Stored credentials currently support macOS and Linux. Windows users can supply BYOK through explicit environment variables or stdin, but durable account login is not supported there yet.

Which Grida files should I back up after initializing a project?

Grida creates or changes .grida, .env, and grida.config.js. Back them up because losing or editing them incorrectly can break Grida.
