Instant sharing for your home network — like AirDrop, but for every device.

Instant sharing for your home network — like AirDrop, but for every device. Open one web page on your phone, laptop or PC, drop in text, files or a screenshot (Ctrl+V), and it is on every other device at once: no app, no login, no cloud. Text fields that survive lost connections, uploads of any size that resume, picture previews, 17 languages, five colour layouts in light and dark, an optional PIN, and up to five users with an area of their own next to the shared one. This is the LAN-only edition: a single container, reachable in your network only, without sharing to the internet. Sharing single files or texts through expiring links needs a second, locked-down container — for that, install Dropnook as a Compose stack instead (see the project page).

Common questions

Do I need to install a native app on each phone or laptop?

No. Dropnook runs in the browser and is set up once on your server.

What happens if the other device is not online when I share something?

The other device does not need to be on at the same time. You can drop it now and pick it up later.

Can an interrupted upload be resumed?

Yes. If an upload breaks off, you can drop the same file again and it continues where it stopped.

Where are shared files stored?

Everything sits in one place on your server. Each user fetches only what they need.

Is sharing to the internet mandatory?

No. Sharing to the internet is only an option, and you decide on your server whether it is switched on.
