AD Studio adds audio description (narration of what is on screen) to videos.

AD Studio adds audio description (narration of what is on screen) to videos. It watches the video with a vision model (Ollama or Gemini), writes short descriptions, voices them with Kokoro and mixes them into a descriptive audio track (or a longer video that pauses for them). Nothing is kept on the server: results are downloaded and deleted when the browser tab closes. Needs Whisper, Ollama and Kokoro services reachable over HTTP.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Common questions

Which companion services must be running for AD Studio to work?

AD Studio orchestrates three services over HTTP: Whisper for speech timing, Kokoro-FastAPI for text-to-speech, and either Ollama or Gemini for visual description. If you use Gemini, Ollama is not required.

Does AD Studio store uploaded videos or generated results on the server?

No. Results are kept in a per-browser-tab scratch folder and are deleted when the tab closes, on a timer, and at startup. You download the results from the browser.

What Unraid installation detail matters for the scratch folder?

Put the Scratch path on a cache-pool path. Do not put it inside docker.img.

Can I review descriptions before creating the final audio track or video?

Yes, there is an editable description table with a preview player that follows along. Rows that are too long for their gap are flagged.
