Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes
- Install the core library first Open a command window and run pip install openwakeword (pip is Python's package installer). This installs the wake-word detection library, so examples and your own code can import it. source
- Install microphone packages for live audio If you want to test with a microphone, run pip install pyaudio scipy on Linux or pip install PyAudioWPatch scipy on Windows. These audio packages let Python read microphone sound; without them the live detection example will fail. source
- Install the web demo extras If you try the websocket streaming example (a web page that streams audio to the app), run pip install aiohttp and pip install resampy. These Python packages handle the web connection and audio timing; without them the demo will not run. source

Common questions
What port should I expose for the openWakeWord container?
Expose TCP port 10400. The Docker example publishes 10400 to 10400, and the run script can be started with a 0.0.0.0:10400 URI.
How do I use custom wake word models with the openWakeWord container?
Put the .tflite files in a directory and mount that directory into the container as /custom. Start the container with --custom-model-dir /custom.
How can I enable verbose logging for openWakeWord?
Run the server with the --debug option. This prints lots of information to the console.
Can I use a remote openWakeWord server in Home Assistant?
A Home Assistant user reported that remote Whisper and Piper could be configured, but openWakeWord appeared limited to local servers. The thread asks whether the integration was set up incorrectly.
