Lowers qBittorrent or Transmission speed limits while someone is watching on Plex, Jellyfin or Emby, and puts your normal speeds back when they stop, so remote streams don't buffer while downloads run. It listens to each media server's own live feed, so it reacts within seconds and needs no webhooks, Plex Pass or Tautulli. A paused stream stays throttled, one left paused for 30 minutes is let go, playback on your own network can be ignored, and the right rates are re-applied after a restart. The dashboard shows what's playing, what's throttled, and a heatmap of when your downloads were held back. After installing, open the WebUI and create your account. Then add your media server and download client on the Configuration page, and map one to the other.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Common questions

What port does AutoThrottle use for its WebUI?

Expose port 7676. Open the WebUI on that port after installing to create your account.

Can I disable AutoThrottle's built-in sign-in when using a reverse proxy?

Set AUTH_DISABLED=true to turn off sign-in. The docs say only use this behind a proxy that handles authentication.

Where should I put AutoThrottle's data folder?

Mount /data as the container data directory. Set PUID and PGID to the user and group that should own the data folder.

What do I configure after creating the account?

Add a media server with its URL and token or API key, or for Plex sign in with your Plex account instead of pasting a token. Add a download client with default rates and throttled rates.

Does AutoThrottle restore normal download rates after a restart?

Yes, it re-applies the right rates on startup, so downloads do not stay stuck slow.
