First-install notes

  • Install the Terbium driver first On Windows, run the Terbium driver install step before you try to flash nocturne-gateway. It gives your PC the driver it needs to flash the device, so skipping it can make flashing fail. source
  • Set the device's Windows network Point the network adapter that appears from the device at the fixed address 172.16.42.1 and enable NAT, a way to share your internet with it. Without this, the device may have no reliable network access. source
  • Let the first boot finish After installing nocturne-gateway, let the first boot reset user data and system settings to defaults and then stop itself. That is expected, and it helps avoid leftover settings breaking the new install. source

Common questions

Which reverse proxy headers should be preserved for Nocturne?

Nocturne's web container reconstructs the browser URL from X-Forwarded-Proto and X-Forwarded-Host, falling back to Host.

What command starts the full Nocturne stack for local Aspire development?

Run aspire start to start PostgreSQL, run database migrations, launch the API and frontend, start configured connectors, and configure the YARP gateway.

Will apps and devices that work with Nightscout also work with Nocturne?

Yes, because Nocturne speaks the Nightscout API, so compatible Nightscout apps and devices work with it.

What authentication does Nocturne support for API access?

Nocturne uses JWT-based authentication and supports API_SECRET.
