First-install notes

  • Install Pelican with Markdown Use `python -m pip install "pelican[markdown]"` (with administrator rights if your system asks) so Markdown (plain text with formatting codes) posts are supported; without that extra, .md files may not build into the HTML pages you expect. source
  • Run the project setup wizard Create an empty folder for the site, then run `pelican-quickstart` inside it and answer the questions; this creates the settings and content folders Pelican needs, so the first build can find your files in the right place. source
  • Choose a theme in the settings Set THEME in the settings file to a built-in theme name, an installed theme name, or a theme folder path; this controls the site's look, and a missing or wrong theme path can make the build fail or leave pages unstyled. source
  • Install Pelican Wings Follow the Pelican Wings installation guide to deploy the service, then pair it with the Pelican Panel so servers can be managed and accessed over SFTP with panel credentials. source

Common questions

Does Wings run each game server in its own Docker container?

Yes. Pelican's Wings server control daemon runs each game server in its own Docker container.

Does Wings include an SFTP server, and what credentials does it accept?

Wings ships with a built-in SFTP server so the system can avoid Pelican-specific dependencies. Users authenticate with the same credentials they would normally use to access the Panel.

Can Wings be controlled over HTTP for logs, backups, and lifecycle management?

Yes. Wings provides an HTTP API for interfacing directly with running server instances, fetching server logs, generating backups, and controlling all aspects of the server lifecycle.

What kinds of Pelican Panel and Wings deployment issues are covered by the troubleshooting documentation?

It covers Panel application errors, Wings connectivity failures, schedule execution problems, and file upload issues.

Where should Wings-specific issues or feature requests be reported?

Wings-specific issues and feature requests can be reported in GitHub Issues.
