Free Games Claimer is a self-hosted Docker container that uses a headless Playwright browser with your saved credentials to automatically claim free games and DLC from supported storefronts such as Epic Games Store, Amazon Prime Gaming, and GOG. It stops itself after each claim run and supports Epic Games two-factor login with a TOTP authenticator code. It is intended for homelab users who want weekly free games claimed without manual clicking.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Scheduling claims on Unraid The container starts, runs the claimers, and stops on its own. To claim on a schedule in Unraid, install the User Scripts plugin from Community Applications, create a new script set to run daily, and use '#!/bin/bash docker start clewis-free-games-claimer' as the script content. Free games rotate weekly, so daily is more than frequent enough. source
  • First run and login Logins persist in /fgc/data (the Appdata path). If a site logs you out, open the container's noVNC web UI on port 6080 and log in in the browser, or run once with SHOW=1 to watch the login flow. Epic Games supports two-factor login: enable an authenticator app in your Epic account settings and paste the TOTP code. source
  • Raspberry Pi 64-bit OS Raspberry Pi 3, 4, and Zero 2 need a 64-bit OS, such as Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit, to run Free Games Claimer. source

Common questions

How do I run the container for only one store instead of the default claimers?

The default command runs node epic-games, node prime-gaming, and node gog. Append a single script such as node epic-games to the Docker run command, or use bash -c to run several selected scripts.

What port does the Docker example publish?

The Docker run command publishes port 6080 from the host to port 6080 in the container.

Where should I store the persistent data for claimed games and logins?

Mount a volume at /fgc/data, for example fgc:/fgc/data. The claimed-game JSON files, redeem codes, and screenshots are stored in that volume.

How do I get updates?

For Docker, the example uses --pull=always to fetch the latest image when the container is run. For a manual checkout, update with git pull and then npm install.

What should I do if the non-Docker Playwright browser is missing system dependencies?

Run sudo npx playwright install firefox --with-deps. This installs the dependencies needed for the Firefox browser that Playwright downloads.
