Frameleaf Manager is the guided installer and upgrade tool for the self-hosted Frameleaf photo and video library. On a NAS, home server, or any Docker-capable Linux machine, it installs or imports a library and coordinates the Frameleaf application, its PostgreSQL database, and optional machine-learning services as sibling containers through the Docker socket. Encrypted backup and recovery covers the database and configuration, not media originals. It is the recommended way to deploy Frameleaf and keep it current on your own hardware.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Common questions

Do I need a Frameleaf account or subscription to run my own copy?

No. Frameleaf does not require a subscription or cloud account.

Should I expect breaking changes during development and updates?

Frameleaf is in beta and under heavy development, so expect bugs, breaking changes, and incomplete features.

Can I rely on Frameleaf alone for my photo backup?

No, keep independent backups of your photos and videos and don't rely on Frameleaf as the only copy of your library.

Can I reach the self-hosted library remotely without exposing ports?

Optional Frameleaf Cloud provides remote access to reach home without open ports.

Can heavy AI jobs be moved off my hardware?

Frameleaf Cloud can handle heavy AI jobs with cloud GPU processing, paid by use.

Will indexing change my original media files?

Originals stay as ordinary files on your own disks and are never changed.
