FreeSize is an Unraid storage tool that shows where space is used by shares, pools, Docker containers, and virtual machines without waking sleeping disks and explains what keeps disks spun up. It reports permissions, moves shares with verified copies, identifies removable and in-use items, and keeps deletions in a restorable quarantine instead of deleting automatically. It is free software under GPL-3.0-or-later and can pair with a FreeSize Hub for phone-approved remote management.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Common questions

How do I move an existing DiskTree Unraid plugin to FreeSize?

In Unraid, check for plugin updates as usual; the last DiskTree update installs the FreeSize plugin within a minute. It takes over settings and Hub pairing from /boot/config/plugins/disktree, removes DiskTree, and places the page under Tools, FreeSize.

Can an existing DiskTree Hub container keep working after the rename?

Yes, the old image name receives the same image for a while, so an existing container updates in place. DISKTREE_ settings still count where the FREESIZE_ name is not set, and old DiskTree pairing links and QR codes still pair.

Do old Authentik groups still work with FreeSize Hub?

Yes, while the group settings are left at their defaults, the Authentik groups disktree-admins and disktree-viewers still count.

What should I do with Linux services when migrating from DiskTree?

The units are now freesize-agent.service and freesize-hub.service. Install them for the Hub by keeping --state and the data folder pointing at the old paths, or move those paths.
