Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Run the guided install script Run the install script in the bifrost/helm-charts/bifrost folder. It guides you through the required settings, so you are less likely to miss a value that prevents Bifrost from starting. source
  • Install with the Postgres example Use the Helm chart (a packaged install recipe for Kubernetes) with the postgres-only.yaml example. This sets up a PostgreSQL database configuration, which matters because Bifrost needs a place to store its settings and data. source
  • Open port 8000 for Laya server If you use self-hosted decision models, install the Laya package and run laya-serve. It listens on port 8000, so blocking that port can stop Bifrost from reaching the model server. source

Common questions

What does the Bifrost deployment overview require before exposing it?

It says to choose a container platform, set where configuration and logs are stored, provide secrets, and expose the HTTP port. Bifrost itself runs as a long-running Linux container.

Can existing OpenAI SDKs point at Bifrost directly?

Bifrost exposes one OpenAI-compatible API and works with any SDK or agent. It also supports failover, load balancing, semantic caching, virtual keys, budgets, and MCP Code Mode.

Can one Bifrost endpoint front multiple MCP servers?

Yes, Bifrost connects one endpoint to your agents and manages all MCP servers behind it. It is a self-hosted meta-MCP gateway on .NET.

Are the current Bifrost release images signed?

v0.12 is the current release and provides a signed image for amd64 and arm64. It also includes five native CLI archives, SBOMs, and checksums.
