Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Resources & Compatibility

Requirements not published yet.

First-install notes

  • Set admin and user passwords Before starting Neko, change the default admin_password and user_password values in the config file (these are the web logins for Neko), because leaving them as “admin” and “neko” means anyone who can reach the app may be able to control your desktop. source
  • Choose a screen size for sessions Set the desktop screen value to a resolution and frame rate your monitor supports, such as 1920x1080@60 (1920 pixels wide, 1080 tall, 60 frames per second), because Neko uses that as the remote desktop size and a bad match can make it blurry or hard to use. source
  • Keep the config file safe Save Neko’s config file, such as config.toml or config.json, in a known place and back it up, because it holds passwords, screen settings, and connection options that decide whether the app starts and how remote users connect. source
