reostream

Stable Reolink streams for Frigate, go2rtc or any recorder.

Stable Reolink streams for Frigate, go2rtc or any recorder. reostream talks to Reolink cameras over their own protocol (port 9000, the one the Reolink app and NVR use) instead of their RTSP server, and serves the video back out as RTSP and HTTP. That avoids the dropped frames and smearing of the cameras' RTSP server, and gets you full-res 4K main streams. Also changes camera settings (lights, time, defaults) from one page. First run: open the WebUI, then get the one-time token from the container log (Docker tab, reostream, Logs) and paste it in to claim the install. Before the first start, open the Unraid terminal and run: mkdir -p /mnt/user/appdata/reostream && chown 65532:65532 /mnt/user/appdata/reostream (the container runs as that user, not root). If you skip this, the log says so and the claim tells you the same command.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Common questions

How do I complete the first run of reostream?

Start the container and read the one-time token from its log. Paste that token into the claim page on port 8562, then save the password it generates.

Which ports do I need for a basic install?

The container should publish 8560 for HTTP, 8561 for RTSP, and 8562 for the claim page. The Reolink camera must also allow port 9000, which is enabled by default.

How should I connect reostream to Frigate?

Feed go2rtc from reostream's RTSP stream and point Frigate at go2rtc, so one camera connection can serve detect, record, and live view. You can add the go2rtc audio=opus option to give browsers and apps audio in live view.

How can I monitor stream health?

The HTTP port 8560 exposes a status endpoint with per-stream JSON for connected, fps, bitrate, clients, reconnects, and last error. It also exposes a Prometheus metrics endpoint.

Can I use the sub or middle stream?

Use the stream name with the sub or extern suffix on RTSP port 8561 or HTTP port 8560. The extern stream is the middle stream, about 896x512 H.264, that most clients do not offer.
