Tidemark is privacy-first web analytics with one calm dashboard. It sets no cookies and never stores IP addresses, and visitor ids change every day, so nobody can be followed around. It shows visitors, pageviews, bounce rate and visit duration, with sources, pages, locations, devices, goals and custom events underneath, plus public dashboards and password-protected shared links you can brand with your own logo and color. The tracking script is about 2 KB and follows Plausible's conventions.

First run: start the container, open the WebUI, and visit /install to create your admin account (SQLite needs no setup; MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL work too). Everything lives in the appdata folder. Put it behind a reverse proxy for HTTPS and set Public address to match. Update by pulling a newer image; migrations run on the first visit.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Common questions

How do I update a Docker self-hosted Tidemark instance?

Pull the newer image and start the stack again with Docker Compose. Migrations run on the first request.

Which Tidemark data should I back up in Docker?

Back up the /data volume because it contains settings, the SQLite database, and logs.

Does Tidemark need a cron job when self-hosted?

Yes, add a cron job that runs artisan schedule:run every minute. It is needed for queue ingestion and data retention.

Can I move existing Plausible data into self-hosted Tidemark?

Yes, you can import history from Plausible's CSV export. The tracking script and Events API follow Plausible conventions.

What if my PHP host cannot point the document root at public?

Upload the app to the web root as-is. The bundled root .htaccess forwards to public and blocks internal files.
