First-install notes
- Download and edit .env first Download .env from the example file and edit it before running Docker Compose. It controls settings that are optional for a quick local test but required for a secure production setup, so leaving it untouched can leave your install exposed or misconfigured. source
- Use the matching compose file If you want MQTT, download docker-compose-complete.yml and set GEOPULSE_MQTT_ENABLED=true in .env; otherwise use the regular docker-compose.yml. Using the wrong file can add an MQTT broker you did not ask for or leave out settings that the stack expects. source
- Keep files in the same folder Run docker compose up -d from the folder containing .env and docker-compose.yml. Compose looks for those files in that folder, so if they are separated or the .env is missing, your custom settings may not be applied. source
