Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Fill in .env.taskview before starting Edit the .env.taskview file (the text file where you tell TaskView its settings) and set real values for APP_URL, database password, and JWT_SIGN (the secret used to sign login tokens). If you use GitHub or GitLab, also set ENCRYPTION_KEY; without these, TaskView may not reach its database, verify logins, or securely handle connected apps. source
  • Add your user to Docker and log back in After installing Docker, add your current user to the docker group, then log out and back in so the change applies. If you don't, Docker commands can fail with permission errors even though Docker is installed. source
  • Start TaskView after you save your settings Run docker compose up -d from the folder with your Docker Compose file (the file that tells Docker which app pieces to start). This starts TaskView and its database in the background; without this step, the app will not be running. source
  • Set required environment variables Edit the .env.taskview file and set real values for APP_URL, database password, and JWT_SIGN; if using GitHub or GitLab, also set ENCRYPTION_KEY so TaskView can reach its database, verify logins, and securely handle connected apps. source
