Nostos is a home for your reading life. Collect physical books, EPUBs, PDFs and audiobooks in one library. Read or listen in the app, keep highlights, notes and passages next to the page they came from, connect ideas across books in the Brain, and turn them into your own writing in the Writing Studio. Everything Nostos keeps lives in one folder: the SQLite database, your books, local backups and the key ring that protects AI keys saved in Settings. Back up that folder. No account is needed. The self-hosted app has no login of its own, so keep it on your home network or behind a VPN, or add authentication at a reverse proxy before exposing it to the internet. Books already on your server: map a folder to /external/media (read-only), then open Settings, This server, External media. The container runs as nobody:users (99:100), so files in the appdata folder belong to the same user as other
