First-install notes

  • Run setup wizard first Run `docker agent setup` before your first run so you can pick a model provider and finish login. Without it, the app may start but cannot send messages to an AI model. source
  • Keep the settings file safe Your main settings are stored in `~/.config/cagent/config.yaml`, which controls themes, permissions, and keybindings. Keep a backup of this file, because losing it means losing your custom setup and allowed or denied permissions. source
  • Open the local model port If you use the local vLLM model server, start it on port 8000 as shown in the docs. The agent needs that port to reach the model, so a blocked or wrong port means local AI responses will not work. source
