CADCraft Web is a community-maintained Docker image that serves CADCraft, a modern 2D and 3D computer-aided design and drafting application, through a browser-based WebAssembly interface. The upstream project includes CAD workflows such as drawing, layers, dimensions, hatches, blocks, object snaps, and DXF support. The container only serves the static web application; drawing and graphics operations run in the browser.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Serve the web app with WASM MIME types In your nginx site, set .wasm files to application/wasm and enable gzip so the browser can load and start CADCraft. Without that file type setting, the page may stay blank or fail to run. source
  • Choose a free control port If you start CADCraft with a control channel (a local port for command and screenshot tools), pick a port that is not already in use and pass it as the port after --control. Other crafting apps also use control ports, so a busy port is why command or screenshot tools cannot connect. source
  • Start the app before MCP connects For MCP (a tool interface that lets external programs send commands to CADCraft), start the app with a control port such as cadcraft --control 7979, then run cadcraft-cli mcp --connect 127.0.0.1:7979. If the app is not reachable at that local address and port, the MCP command exits with an error instead of falling back to headless. source
