FigCraft Web is a self-hosted browser build of FigCraft, an open-source interface design and prototyping application, packaged as a Docker image that runs entirely in the browser via WebAssembly (Rust compiled to browser code). It provides frames, auto layout, components, styles, variables and prototypes for designing user interfaces, and packages the frontend only, with no server-side project storage or hosted collaboration. It suits designers and developers who want FigCraft in the browser on any machine, while native Mac, Windows and Linux downloads remain available for those who prefer the desktop app.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Start figcraft-server as a service Install the provided figcraft-server service and start it with systemd, the Linux service manager that keeps background apps running. This matters because the web app needs the server to be up; the service also restarts it if it crashes. source
  • Confirm before installing plugins When adding a plugin, make sure the install call includes confirm set to true, plus the expected SHA-256 (a file-fingerprint check) if available. Without confirm nothing downloads, and the fingerprint helps catch a wrong or corrupted plugin file. source
  • Download the native app If you want FigCraft as a desktop program instead of the browser image, download the latest native build for Mac, Windows or Linux from the GitHub releases page and install it like any other application. source

Common questions

Can FigCraft import Figma .fig files?

FigCraft can open .fig files on a best-effort basis. It can also open designs exported as the public REST API file JSON, including prototypes and variables.

Can self-hosted FigCraft support live co-editing?

You can host the open file from the app or a server of your own, then share an invite link to edit it together. Changes sync live with cursors, selections, and cursor chat.

What should I check if the FigCraft web editor won’t load or shows a blank canvas?

The troubleshooting guide covers fixes for loading problems, WebGPU and WebGL2 errors, and file open/save issues.
