TextureCraft Web is a community-maintained Docker image that serves TextureCraft, a 3D texture-painting application, through a browser-based WebAssembly interface. Work with 3D models and paint or create textures using the upstream application. The browser application uses local device graphics capabilities; the container only serves the static frontend and does not provide remote desktop or server-side rendering.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Check Linux download checksums On Linux, run the SHA-256 checksum command on the downloaded files against SHA256SUMS.txt before running the AppImage or installing the package. This catches a corrupted or wrong download before it can cause install problems. source
  • Install AppImage, .deb, or .rpm On Linux, run the AppImage or install the .deb/.rpm, then check the TextureCraft CLI (command-line tool) version to confirm the tools are installed and reachable. If the CLI is missing, terminal commands for exporting or controlling the app will fail. source
  • Open port 7878 for control access If you use the optional --control 7878 channel, allow port 7878 in your firewall so the JSON (text-based) control interface can receive commands. Without that, remote tools cannot connect to TextureCraft to run tasks or take screenshots. source

Common questions

Does TextureCraft support GPU-accelerated baking?

It bakes ambient occlusion, curvature, thickness, and similar maps on the GPU, about 12 times faster than on the CPU.

Can TextureCraft be automated or controlled externally?

Yes. Its commands can be driven from a CLI, a JSON control channel, or an MCP server for painting, baking, and exporting.

Can paint strokes flow across UV seams?

Brush stamps live on the 3D surface, so strokes flow across UV seams, and camera visibility keeps paint off the back of the model.

Have users reported a bug adjusting material effect parameters?

A Windows 11 bug report says generators, filters, and fills can be applied to materials, but their blending parameters cannot be adjusted.
