First-install notes

  • Set the API address before starting In the daemon's YAML (plain-text config) file, set api.host, api.port, and SSL cert/key values for your network. The sample uses port 8080, so if your Pterodactyl Panel is on another machine, make sure that port can be reached. source
  • Keep the API config and key safe If SSL is enabled, the YAML points to certificate and private-key files. Keep that config file and key file safe, because anyone who can read the private key can impersonate this daemon's API. source

Common questions

How do I configure the Wings daemon to connect to the Pterodactyl panel?

Set api.host and api.port in the daemon YAML file before starting it, and include SSL certificate and key values if SSL is used. The sample uses port 8080, so that port must be reachable when the panel is on another machine.

What changed in a Pterodactyl update regarding the daemon and SFTP?

The update rewrote parts of the codebase and fixed Daemon architecture bugs. It also introduced a new SFTP subsystem.

Does Pterodactyl support two-factor authentication?

Yes. Pterodactyl's site lists bcrypt and 2FA as security features, with scoped tokens passed through Wings.

Is the Pterodactyl installer officially supported?

The installer is not officially supported by the team behind Pterodactyl. You can check Discord to see if anyone else has written about your issue or error.
