Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Run the Rallly installer On your server, run `curl -fsSL https://get.rallly.co | bash` to install and start Rallly. It checks requirements, downloads the Rallly stack (the app and its supporting parts), guides you through setup, and creates secret keys that keep the setup safe, so without it Rallly will not be configured or running. source
  • Stop an existing web proxy If you already run Nginx or Caddy (web servers that receive incoming web traffic), stop and disable them before using Rallly's own web setup. Otherwise they can fight over the same web ports and HTTPS (secure web) links, making Rallly unreachable or its secure links broken. source
  • Back up the database After installation, run `./rallly.sh backup` to save a copy of the database (where Rallly stores polls and accounts) in `./backups/`. If the database is lost and you have no backup, all polls, accounts, and settings disappear. source

Common questions

Do I need to stop an existing Nginx or Caddy proxy before using Rallly's web setup?

Yes. Stop and disable Nginx or Caddy first, otherwise they can fight over the same web ports and HTTPS, making Rallly unreachable or its secure links broken.

Do I need to run Rallly's installer script on a self-hosted Docker deployment?

Yes. The installer checks requirements, downloads the stack, guides setup, and creates secret keys; without it Rallly will not be configured or running.

How do I back up Rallly's data?

Run ./rallly.sh backup to save a copy of the database in ./backups/. If the database is lost and you have no backup, all polls, accounts, and settings disappear.

Can I recover old Rallly polls from the older MongoDB version?

The older Angular/MongoDB version includes a mongo helper that can retrieve old polls into Postgres when legacy poll links are accessed.

What changes are mentioned for Rallly 4.14.0?

The changelog mentions white-label branding, unsubscribe headers, role permissions in invites, and activity-log changes.
