Awtrix2 is a Docker container that runs the official Awtrix2 host server for controlling addressable RGB LED strips. On restart it automatically fetches the latest host build from the Awtrix site. Developed in collaboration with Blueforcer on an Alpine Java 8 base, it suits self-hosters who want a lightweight, self-managing LED strip controller with optional Amazon Alexa integration.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Common questions

Do the default GPIO pins work for a common 32×8 clock?

The shipped defaults match the common 32×8 clock wiring. Every pin is configurable.

How do I get AWTRIX onto my Wi-Fi?

On first boot, and whenever it cannot reach a known network, AWTRIX opens its own provisioning access point.

What does initial setup for a Ulanzi/Awtrix device involve?

A Home Assistant community thread walks through initial setup, including replacing the factory firmware with Awtrix. It also notes a sharpness-limited display, poor energy efficiency, and a weak battery.
