Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Create your first user account Before adding trackers, create a user with a login, email, password, and device limit. Without a valid account, nobody can log in or be assigned GPS devices. source
  • Open port 8082 for API calls The examples show Traccar’s API at http://localhost:8082, so if another machine or app will call it, allow traffic to that port. If the port is blocked, API requests will not connect. source
  • Enter the tracker's unique ID When adding a device, set uniqueId to the tracker's serial or IMEI (the number that identifies that exact tracker). If it is wrong, position updates may not match the right vehicle. source

Common questions

What account details must exist before assigning GPS trackers in Traccar?

Create a user with a login, email, password, and device limit. Without a valid account, nobody can log in or be assigned GPS devices.

Which port should be allowed for external Traccar API calls?

Open port 8082 and allow traffic to it. If the port is blocked, API requests will not connect.

What value should I enter for a tracker's uniqueId when adding a device?

Enter the tracker's serial number or IMEI. If it is wrong, position updates may not match the right vehicle.

Can Traccar add points of interest with images?

The source says Traccar appears to lack a way to add POIs with images, so users ask how to implement it or what alternative would support it.

What connectivity issue was reported when using Cloudflare Tunnel with Traccar and an OBD tracker?

One user could connect the Traccar client app, but the Freematics OBD tracker showed as connected in its builder while Traccar reported it offline and not tracking.
