First-install notes

  • Install it by URL in OctoPrint In OctoPrint's built-in Plugin Manager, use the URL install option and enter the exact download link that ends in .zip for OctoPrint-Spants. OctoPrint needs that link to find and download the plugin file; otherwise it won't install or show up. source
  • Keep the OctoPrint plugins folder OctoPrint looks for plugin files in the .octoprint/plugins folder and in installed plugin packages on the machine. Don't delete or move that folder, because doing so can make Spants stop loading after a restart. source
  • Use the right pip install link If your instructions say to install with pip, use the plugin's exact GitHub ZIP URL while OctoPrint's virtual environment (its separate Python setup) is active. A wrong URL or missing environment will not install Spants where OctoPrint can find it. source
