First-install notes

  • Set required properties before starting In the application.properties file, set the database connection and the session encryption key before first start, because missing them can stop startup or break logins. This text file tells CommaFeed where to store data and how to keep login sessions secure. source
  • Finish one-time initial account setup Run the initialSetup request shown in the docs to create your first admin user. If you skip it, you may not have an account to sign in with, so complete it before using the web UI. source
  • Reach it from other machines via port 8082 The examples use http://localhost:8082, meaning the same computer and the default port for the web app and API (browser and program access). If you want to use CommaFeed from another device, allow that port or put a reverse proxy in front so the connection isn't blocked. source
